Q. Which personal cassette player should I buy?
A. You need a portable cassette player with a frequency response that reaches at least 16,000Hz. We currently recommend Panasonic as their players have the best frequency response and are well made. Go to ordering details to order your player from Sound Therapy International. If you wish to shop around for your own player then you need to ring the head office of that manufacturer and speak to a technician who can tell you if the frequency response for tape playback reaches 16,000Hz. The headphones or earphones that come with the player will be suitable, or if you prefer you can buy a different style.
Q. What other equipment will I need?
A. You will need rechargable batteries, and a battery recharger.
Q. Can I play Sound Therapy through speakers?
A. You need to use headphones in order to get the true benefit of the therapy. If you wish to use your home stereo with headphones that is fine but it will not allow you the mobility of the personal cassette player so it may be hard for you to put in the required listening hours. When using Sound Therapy for a baby that is too young to wear headphones, an alternative is to set up speakers on the right and left of the crib so that the baby will get the correct right left balance.
Q. Why can’t I hear any sound in the left ear?
A. You will hear the sound in the left ear if you remove the right headphone and listen to the left one alone. The sound is intentionally louder in the right ear as this stimulates the brain to process sound more efficiently.
Q.Can you get it on CD?
A. No, Sound Therapy is not available on CD because digital recording would interfere with the benefits of the program. Digital recording causes distortions in the high frequencies, the very ones that are so important to our communication and are fine tuned by Sound Therapy.
Q. What is the tssst-tssst sound on the tapes?
A.That sound is the therapy! It is caused by the Electronic Ear boosting the high frequencies and it is the sound that stimulates the ear and brain.
Q. How can I find the time to listen?
A. It takes no time at all to listen to Sound Therapy because you can listen on the run, literally. With your personal cassette player you can listen while you are jogging, reading, sleeping, studying, watching TV, travelling to work, having a conversation or almost any other activity.
Q.Why are the tapes so expensive?
A. In fact the Joudry self help Sound Therapy program is the least expensive way to use Sound Therapy. As compared to approximately $20.00 per hour for clinical treatment, this program works out at less than $2.00 per hour! Also because you purchase the tapes yourself you are able to use them for as long a period as required to obtain maximum benefit. For some conditions, listening for several months may be required, and there is no additional cost to you. You can also share the program with other members of your family. Sound Therapy tapes are recorded on the highest quality metal tapes, which are virtually indestructible. However, if a tape ever becomes damaged in any way, we guarantee to replace it. Remember that when you purchase the Sound Therapy program you are purchasing a highly specialized therapy course, which is completely different to purchasing ordinary cassettes for listening pleasure. You will also receive our free service of telephone support and advice to help you obtain the maximum benefit from your listening program.
Q. Why are the tapes so cheap?
A. Because this is a self help program. Patricia Joudry and the Benedictine monks of Saskatchewan believed that Sound Therapy should be made available to as many people as possible at an affordable cost. Therefore you do not need to pay for a practitioner’s time or the use of their facilities. There is no testing required and it is up to you to conduct your own program.. As long as you have read the book Sound Therapy: Music to Recharge Your Brain, you have enough information to conduct you listening program successfully.
Q. Are there additional tapes to use after the Basic Kit?
A. Yes, we have a range of over twenty other tapes for those who require more variety or who want to take their listening to a higher level. Information on the additional tapes will be sent to you with your Basic Kit.
Q.Should I make a copy of the tapes and use the copy to preserve the original?
A. No. Each tape is made directly with the Sound Therapy Electronic Ear and a duplicate copy would not convey the correct frequencies. You would be wasting your time listening to an inferior tape. There is no problem with using the originals because if one of your tapes gets damaged we will replace it. Simply return it to us with a note explaining what is wrong with it and we will send you a replacement.
